Niagara Falls State Park is more than just waterfalls. There is so much history, lore and ecology here that we occasionally offer hikes or walks and talks that focus on some of the things that make the region even more special.   • Fairy Houses

    Where: Whirlpool State Park
    When: Saturday, October 4, 2025; 10 AM – 11:30 AM

    Join a Park Naturalist in making fairy houses. These mini homes are made from natural materials found in our forest and are a cute whimsical yard or trail decoration. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • SNIFFari Through the Park

    Where: Whirlpool State Park
    When: Sunday, October 5, 2025; 10 AM – 11:30 AM

    Join us for a walk focusing on enrichment for our furry friends with many stops along the trail to let the dogs get their fill of new scents found in the park as we discuss some of the natural phenomenon and history surrounding the area. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Migratory Bird Day Walk

    Where: Whirlpool State Park
    When: Saturday, October 11, 2025; 10 AM – 12 PM

    Go birding with an educator on migratory bird day to learn more about the migratory birds we find along the Niagara River. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Gorgeous Views Foliage Hike

    Where: Whirlpool State Park
    When: Sunday, October 12, 2025; 10 AM – 1 PM

    Join us on a hike down to the Whirlpool Flats and immerse yourself with the stunning fall foliage contrasted with the blue/green water of the lower Niagara River and subsequent rapids. Ages 8+. Skill level: Difficult. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Basic Tree ID

    Where: Devil’s Hole State Park
    When: Saturday, October 18, 2025; 10 AM – 11:30 AM

    Short talk about how to identify trees and then take a short walk on the rim trial towards Whirlpool State Park. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Fall Foliage Walk

    Where: Devil’s Hole State Park
    When: Saturday, October 18, 2025; 2 PM – 4 PM

    Take a walk along the gorge to learn more about the fall foliage with a park educator! Binoculars and cameras encouraged! Registration available on Eventbrite.com but not required
