Niagara Region Archive

The Niagara Region Archive is located in the Niagara Falls State Park’s Education building and consists of a collection of materials which documents the rich history and cultural significance of the Niagara Region parks. These archives include manuscripts, documents, photographs, and maps that tell the story of the Niagara Region parks from its earliest days to the present.

Research Appointments

We will have research hours by appointment, so please contact us to schedule a time to plan out your research. We will require at least one (1) week in advance of your preferred arrival date, though it’s highly recommended you reach out as soon as you can so that any scheduling conflicts can be avoided. Research appointments are generally limited to particular weekdays (i.e. Tuesdays through Thursdays) and only for a portion of the workday. Requests submitted by email should be sent to [email protected]; please include “Research Request” in the subject line.

Donations & Collecting Policy

This collection consists of a mixture of items created by the region during the administration of the sites and items donated from the community. Items collected and stored will directly correlate to the parks within the boundaries of the Niagara Region.

The Niagara Region Archive only collects items relating to sites within the geographical boundaries of the Niagara Region or those items which help to show the growth and development of the regional parks.

Items must meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Be of permanent historical value.
• Be worthy of long-term preservation.
• Be considered unique and/or irreplaceable.
• Fits into the scope and collecting policy themes.
