There is so much history, lore and ecology here that we occasionally offer hikes or walks and talks that focus on some of the things that make the region even more special.   • Rock Painting

    Let your creativity shine during our eco-friendly rock painting activity. This family friendly program involves visitors to decorate stones with colorful designs or wildlife inspired artwork. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Last Saturday of the Summer Stroll

  • Fairy Houses

    Where: Whirlpool State Park

    Join a Park Naturalist in making fairy houses. These mini homes are made from natural materials found in our forest and are a cute whimsical yard or trail decoration. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Gorgeous Views Foliage Hike

    Join us on a hike down to the Whirlpool Flats and immerse yourself with the stunning fall foliage contrasted with the blue/green water of the lower Niagara River and subsequent rapids. Ages 8+. Skill level: Difficult. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Basic Tree ID

    Where: Devil’s Hole State Park
    When: Saturday, October 18, 2025; 10 AM – 11:30 AM

    Short talk about how to identify trees and then take a short walk on the rim trial towards Whirlpool State Park. Registration required on Eventbrite.com

  • Fall Foliage Walk

    Where: Devil’s Hole State Park
    When: Saturday, October 18, 2025; 2 PM – 4 PM

    Take a walk along the gorge to learn more about the fall foliage with a park educator! Binoculars and cameras encouraged! Registration available on Eventbrite.com but not required
