During their appearance, the “Characters of History” can be found throughout the Park sharing their stories with visitors to the Falls. Formal Presentations are be held at the Visitor Center and the Information Center at Goat Island (near Cave of the Winds) at 1pm and 3pm on appearance dates*.
The "Characters of History" in Niagara Falls State Park allow you to hear the stories of fascinating real-life characters, such as:
- Annie Edson Taylor, the first person to go over the Falls in a barrel
- Father Louis Hennepin, the French explorer who first chronicled the Falls for a European audience
- Maria Spelterini, the first woman to tightrope walk across the Falls in 1876
- Frederick Law Olmsted, the legendary landscape architect and designer of Niagara Falls State Park
